WATCH: Trump Booed, Cheered at Club World Cup Final

President Trump helped present the FIFA Club World Cup soccer trophy to Chelsea in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Sunday as he marked one year since the assassination attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Trump was met with boos and some applause during the presentation of the trophy and runners-up medals to Paris Saint-Germain at MetLife Stadium after being cheered at following his arrival for the game that Chelsea won 3-0.

Trump's appearance at the event comes ahead of the 2026 World Cup, the final of which will also be held at MetLife Stadium.

Soccer's world governing body FIFA opened an office at Trump Tower in in New York City last week after opening an office in Miami, Florida, ahead of the tournament that will also see games in Canada and Mexico.

While the president did not address the Butler campaign rally shooting that that injured his ear at the soccer game, he paid tribute in a Sunday night statement after his return to D.C. to Trump rally-goer Corey Comperatore, whom he said "died a hero" that day.

Trump said it is his "firm conviction that God alone saved me that day for a righteous purpose: to restore our beloved Republic to greatness and to rescue our Nation from those who seek its ruin."
